Every child deserves to be seen, supported, and challenged. As a DPS mom and community leader, I’ve spent my career building what our neighborhoods need, from food justice programs to good jobs, from health equity initiatives to major investments on the Westside. I bring deep roots in Southwest Denver and a track record of delivering real results by partnering across sectors and putting community first.

Now, I’m ready to bring that same bold, results-driven leadership to our schools. It’s time to wake up the sleeping giant that is Southwest Denver and ensure that every student, every family, and every educator feels seen, heard, and supported.

FOR DENVER school board DISTRICT 2

Mariana Del Hierro

Meet mariana

Community Leader.
Public Health Advocate. Dps mom.

Mariana del Hierro is a proven leader with deep roots in community and a bold vision for Denver’s schools. Born and raised on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border in El Paso, Mariana grew up with a firsthand understanding of the systemic barriers working families face and the life-changing power of education. As the first in her family to attend college, she knows what it means to fight for opportunity.

Today, Mariana serves as the Executive Director of Re:Vision, a nationally recognized nonprofit tackling food insecurity and economic injustice in Southwest Denver. Under Mariana’s leadership, the organization has doubled in size, expanded urban farming, expanded a no-cost grocery serving over 800 families each week, and created living-wage jobs for immigrant women. Mariana has built cross-sector partnerships with Denver Health, the City of Denver, and grassroots leaders to transform community needs into concrete solutions, from food access to job training to housing stability.

Prior to Re:Vision, Mariana led the development of Denver Health’s first health and racial equity strategy for its Community Health Centers, helped disseminate COVID public education materials across the city, and shaped youth health policy at the state level. She’s also a published author on the link between racism and public health.

Mariana is a DPS mom. Her son attends Denver Public Schools, where she’s seen the impact of overcrowded classrooms and under-resourced educators on outcomes for our Latinx students. That experience drives her campaign for Denver School Board District 2.

When classrooms are too full, kids fall through the cracks, especially students who learn differently or need extra support. We must invest in right-sized classrooms so that teachers can do what they do best: teach, inspire, and nurture every learner.

Every Student Deserves to Be Known

When schools partner with local colleges, employers, and community leaders, students can see a future for themselves right here in our city. I’ll fight to build strong partnerships that connect middle and high school students to real pathways so they graduate ready for college, careers, and leadership in our own neighborhoods.

Partnering with Community

Equity Through Student Success

We need leadership that doesn’t just acknowledge inequity, but works to desegregate outcomes and ensure every student has what they need to succeed. As the author of Denver Health’s Community Health Centers’ equity strategy, I know how to bring equity from theory to reality. I’ll push for clear goals, transparent data, and real accountability to ensure every student has what they need to thrive, no matter their race, income, or zip code.
